In today's fast-paced work environment, it is crucial to access and share knowledge efficiently within a company. This is the challenge that PairUp aims to address with its innovative software, designed to streamline the way information is stored and disseminated in organizations.

The startup provides quick answers to questions about documents and projects, and helps locate colleagues with specific knowledge or expertise. This tool is especially beneficial for new employees seeking knowledge from those who have already left the company. They stand out among competitors, such as Glean, for focusing on "undocumented knowledge" and effectively directing employees to the right person with the answers they need. The rise of remote work has detracted from the effectiveness of traditional knowledge-sharing methods. According to CEO and co-founder Emily Harburg, remote work has increased employee isolation, making informal learning and information sharing difficult. They address this issue by fostering human connections at work through AI, in contrast to other AI tools that aim to replace human interaction or force humans to work like machines.

PairUp recently secured a $2.8 million funding round led by HearstLab and Hillsven, with additional investment from Seattle-based Graham & Walker. Leslie Feinzaig, managing director of Graham & Walker, highlighted PairUp's unique approach to using AI to improve human connection in the workplace. The management team has extensive experience in various fields of technology and innovation. Emily Harburg, co-founder at 2022 with Andy Garvin, previously led projects at Walt Disney Imagineering and holds a PhD in technology and social behavior. Andy Garvin, a former software engineer at Kaizen Health and CareSignal, brings extensive technical experience to the team.

The company's product manager, Jonathan Geibel, co-founded Pluto VR and spent more than 15 years leading technology teams at Disney Animation. Geibel, based in Seattle, brings significant experience in both mixed reality and animation technology.

Looking to the future: With a small but dedicated team of five, PairUp is poised to make a significant impact on how companies manage and access their internal knowledge. Backed by investors such as Looking Glass Capital, Honeystone Ventures, MSIV and Lofty Ventures, the startup is well positioned to further develop its platform and expand its market presence.
