Yung Sidekick Raises $825K to Combat Therapist Burnout with AI
The mental health sector is rapidly evolving and Yung Sidekick, a U.S. AI-based mental health care platform, is at the forefront of this transformation. Recently, the startup raised $825,000 in seed funding led by Altair Capital and Ultra.VC. This funding will accelerate the development of its cutting-edge AI technology designed to relieve therapists of overwhelming administrative tasks, giving them more time to focus on their clients.
Founded in 2022, the startup aims to address the widespread problem of therapist burnout caused by the burden of paperwork and hours spent taking notes and managing electronic health records (EHRs). The platform leverages AI to automate these tasks, reducing the time spent on documentation from hours to mere minutes.
The platform has already processed more than 30,000 therapy sessions and serves more than 100 clients. By automatically transcribing recorded sessions, extracting key details such as symptoms and therapeutic goals, and generating EHR-ready progress notes in just two minutes, Yung Sidekick allows mental health professionals to spend more time on patient care and less on tedious paperwork.
But they're not limited to just documentation. The startup is developing an artificial intelligence assistant capable of recalling session details, identifying diagnostic markers and providing therapists with real-time information that could be critical in a busy practice.
With a strong focus on privacy and security, Yung Sidekick is HIPAA compliant, ensuring that personal health information is not stored, and all session audio is deleted after processing. This added layer of security helps mental health professionals adopt the platform with confidence.
